Summar-AI is designed to help you understand and interact with web page content. To do this, the extension processes two types of information:
- Full Page Text: When you use the "Analyze Page" feature, the extension reads the visible text content of the current web page you are on.
- Highlighted Text: When you use the "Summarize Selection" or "Replace" features, the extension reads only the text you have explicitly highlighted on the page.
We do not collect any personal information about you, such as your name, email address, or browsing history. However, please be aware that if the text on a web page or the text you select contains personal information, that information will be included in the content sent for processing.
2. How We Use Your Information
The text content gathered by the extension is used solely for the purpose of providing the extension's core features. Here is the step-by-step process:
- You initiate an action (e.g., click "Summarize Selection").
- The selected text is securely sent from your browser to our secure backend server (hosted on Vercel).
- Our server immediately forwards this text to the Google Gemini API for processing.
- The AI-generated summary or analysis is returned to our server and then sent directly back to your extension to be displayed.
3. Third-Party Services
To provide its summarization and analysis capabilities, Summar-AI relies on the Google Gemini API. All text content processed by our extension is sent to Google for this purpose.
We do not have control over how Google handles this data. We encourage you to review their privacy policies to understand their practices:

4. Data Storage and Security
